Grant Township:  Churches--In 1883, an independent congregation established the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Unaltered Augsburg Confession. Services were held at the Evangelical Society Church 2 miles south, 1/4 mile west of current Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (at Mapleworks).  The Centennial Booklet (1883 - 1983) for that church was originally donated to that congregation by Lorraine Nowak and has been transcribed by James W. Sternitzky with permission from Lila D. Schmitz and Lavon Bartsch.  This is an outstanding work filled with numerous historical gems.  A Big "Thank You", to all who have had a part in recording this fine piece of local history!

Civil War Page: We've added some new links to the index on the Civil War Veterans' Page and also a link to Stories of the Badger State.  There are interesting stories of various battles that Wisconsin Regiments fought in, Draft Riots in 1862 in Ozaukee County, and a listing of rioters who were arrested.  Henry Decker is mentioned, but we haven't yet determined if it is the one who settled in Warner Township, Clark County, Wisconsin since no other information was given.  If you can help make a determination, please contact Allan Wessel.

1909 School Souvenir booklet--"In looking through some of my family pictures, I came across a 1909 School Souvenir booklet for the District No.1 School in Mentor Township.  It belonged to Ethel Graves; she was a cousin to my great-grandmother.  She lived most of her life in York Township but taught briefly at this Mentor Township school after she attended Neillsville Normal School.  I am not sure where District No. 1 was in Mentor Township." James W. Sternitzky has done a wonderful job updating the records for of his Clark County, WI relatives and has supplied lots of comprehensive detail to the Grant, Lynn, Loyal & Pine Valley Cemeteries.  Thank You James for being so willing to share all of your hard work!

Civil War: We now have over 500 Civil War veterans' names listed from the various census' and from the messages that have been posted on the Records Board. If anyone has been missed, please email Allan Wessel  and he will add them to this comprehensive index.  Thank You Allan for an absolutely outstanding job!
