Girl Scouts

A camping we will go --

At least we're hoping so.

This is the Girl Scout theme song. With that bright goal - summer camping - in mind. Troop Number One, N. H. S. has worked during this last year. We helped in the Scout booth at the Fair, had food sales, and at Christmas time made cookies, sold them, and had a grand time doing it, to help achieve our goal.

Betty Zimmerman lost a quarter while working at one of the food sales, and the poor quarter nearly repeated Jonah's experience - Lowell Shoengarth saw it in his spoon as he was eating some chili his mother had bought at that sale. Thanks, Judge, for returning it.

Also around Christmas holidays we tried to do more than our daily good deed by helping the poor and doing some favors for a family whose house and property had burned.

Scouting hasn't been all work, however. Our Halloween masquerade mixer, which we gave for the school, was extremely successful, and the sleigh-ride parties with the Boy Scouts will not soon be forgotten. The chili you made, Doris, Marie, Betty, and Josephine was very good; we relished it after that cold ride through the cemetery.

The weekly meetings have been "perked up" too by having a patrol take charge each time and prepare special recreation.

The Senior scouts are especially sorry to have the year end - it means, for one thing, the end of Scouting. It has meant a great deal.

The Boy Scouts

The Boy Scouts, under the direction of Scoutmaster Jake Hoesly, have progressed very rapidly in the past few years. On October 23 the Boy and Girl Scouts gave a masquerade dance and costume ball. The Boy and Girl Scouts have also been responsible for the dances put on after the basketball games.

Among other things the Boy Scouts have had two sleigh-rides parties which were enjoyed by all.

The local troop took part in a First Aid contest at Chippewa Falls on March 3rd where our boys won third place, Eau Claire winning first and Chippewa Falls, second. Our representatives were Ted Bracken, John Landry, Robert Roessler, and Robert Jackson.

The following are those largely responsible for the success of the troop.

The Boy Scouts have a total number of 28 in the troop.
