Lawrence Celar was born August 10, 1889 in Jugoslavia. Marian Zavrl was born March 5, 1891 in Tuplace, Yugoslavia. Lawrence came to America in 1906 and Marian in 1909.

They settled in Chicago where they were met by their sisters, who had come to America earlier. They both were employed in hat making shops. Lawrence and Marian were married in Chicago May 14, 1911. A few years later they moved to a rented farm in Medford. While there they heard about the Willard area from a friend, John Lulonits, who had relatives in the area.

They moved to Willard in 1925 onto the present Dan Boh farm, which they rented from Rudy Schwab. Four years later they purchased the present home farm 41/2 miles south of Willard (Hendren Twp., Sec.35) from August Milbrite. Son, Frank is living on and owns the former home farm.

There were four children born to Lawrence and Marian Celar: Lawrence Jr., deceased in 1938 at age 26; William, who is retired and living in Neillsville; Frank, on the home farm, Route 3, Neillsville; and Bernyce, who is Mrs. Fred Barr, living in the Willard-Greenwood area.

Lawrence Sr. passed away in 1961. Marian is presently living in the Greenwood Housing Apartments.
