Allen J. Hadley died at the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. Ovid Homstead at Neenah, March 26, 1935, at the age of 82 years, having reached the mark on March 21. The immediate cause of his death being pneumonia and pleurisy. He had not been well since he was in an automobile accident in the fall of 1933, and was in a Chippewa Falls hospital for over a year. Since then he had lived with his granddaughter.

He was born in Erie County, New York, March 21, 1853, and came to Wisconsin, near Eau Claire when a small child. Several years later he moved to Eau Claire and ran a ferry, taking people across the Chippewa River before bridges were built. He later operated a saw mill at Boyd, many years and then to Eidsvold where he had a store, a saw mille and later a farm.

In 1881, he was married to Miss Imogene Storey, who died nine years ago. Two children were born to them, a daughter, Mrs. Joseph Flora, who preceded him in death in 1922, and a son, Earl, who lives at Proctor, Minn. Besides his son, Earl, he leaves his granddaughter, Mrs. Ovid Halmstead (nee Opal Flora) also other grandchildren and two brothers, Ed and Frank Hadley, of Tillamook, Ore. The body was brought to Stanley for burial. Services were held from the Presbyterian Church with Rev. E. S. Genung officiating.

The pallbearers were, Erve and Vedell Boardman, Gust Anderson, Christ Evenson, Melvin Biddle and Frank Baker.
