Jordan, Mrs. James (Dec 1854 - 7 OCT 1912)

Mrs. James Jordan, who has been ailing for the past five months, died on Monday night at the St. Joseph Hospital at Chippewa Fall, aged fifty-seven years and nine months. She was born in Jefferson Co., N.Y. in 1854, came to Elroy, Wis., with her parents (Johnathan B. & Charlotte Jerad Warner) in 1866, where she was united in marriage to Mr. James Jordan in 1874. In 1877, she moved with her husband and family to Clark County, Wis., where she has since resided. She was a kind and sympathetic mother and was loved by all her friends and neighbors. The union was blessed with fourteen children, twelve of who are left to mourn her loss, Mrs. Lottie Palmer of Oregon City, Oregon, Mrs. Kate Hutchins of Randel, Wash., Mrs. Rose Timlin, Mrs. Elsie Techmier, Mrs. Phoebe Erdman, Mrs. Addie Calkins, Michael, James, William, Thomas, Emma and Evan Jorden of this place, and two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Nora Buyatt and Mr. Tim Warner of Jump River, and Mrs. Addie Story and John Warner of Stanley. Those who attended the funeral from away were, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Buyatt and son, and Mr. and Mrs. Tim Warner and son of Jump River, Miss Olive Story of Curtiss, Gertrude Story, Tioga, Mrs. Mary Hutchinson, Bloomer, Mrs. Lillian Leonard, stone Lake, Mrs. Edith Anderson, Ladysmith, Louis Jorden of Superior, Thomas Jorden, Hayward and William Jorden of Stone Lake. The funeral took place Thursday morning from St. Mary's Church at Stanley, Father Cisweski officiating, interment taking place in the St. Mary's Cemetery.

Johnathan B. Warner, a notice of whose death appeared in the Republican of March 4, was born in the town of Mayfield, Fulton Co., N.Y., Nov. 16, 1831. He moved with his parents to Jefferson Co., NY, in 1840. He was married to Charlotte Jerad, July 4, 1853. He enlisted in Co. F., 10th N. Y. Y. H. A., Sept. 1862. Was discharged July, 1865. He moved to Mauston, Wis., in Sept. of the same year. He moved to Elroy, Wis. in 1872. His wife died in 1876. In 1877 he moved with his five children to Thorp, Clark Co., Wis. From 1889 to 1903 he was an inmate of the Waupaca Veteran's home.   During the last mentioned year he returned to Thorp and had made his home with his children.  Stanley Republic, 03/18/1905

James Jordan died at his home in the town of Thorp, Clark county, near this city on Monday night, September 30, after a lingering illness. His death was not unexpected as he was suffering from a fatal malady. He was about 60 years of age and one of the pioneer residents of this locality. He was born at Elm Grove, Wis. in 1853. He was married to Emma Warner, Elroy in 1874 and settled on the farm where he died, in 1877. Indeed, we have met few people who claimed to have been residents of the Stanley Country when "Jim" Jordan came. It is believed that he settled here about 35 years ago and with his faithful wife who survives him reared a family of 14 children, 12 of whom survive, as follows: Mrs. Lottie Palmer, Oregon City, Ore.; Mrs. Rose Timlin, Thorp; Mrs. Len Hutchins, Randle, Wash.; Mrs. John Techmeier, Thorp; Mrs. E G. Erdman, Stanley; Michael Jordan, Stanley; Mrs. Wm. Calkikns, Stanley; and Emma, Eva, James, Tom and William at home. His funeral was conducted from St. Mary's church on Thursday and his mortal remains were interred in St. Mary's cemetery.

Mr. Jordan was a good neighbor, a genial and whole hearted companion, a kind and indulgent husband and father.

He was about sixty years of age, an old settler of this locality, having come here about 35 years ago. He is survived by a wife and twelve children. Mrs. James Jordan, who has been ailing for the past five months, died on Monday night at the St. Joseph Hospital at Chippewa Fall, aged fifty-seven years and nine months.

James Jordan (17 Feb 1853, Elm Grove, Wisconsin - 30 September 1912) married Emma C. Warner (1854-1912), the daughter of Jonathan B. Warner.  He was the son Michael Amos Jordan (4 Mar 1821, Co. Mayo, Ireland-20 Nov 1893, Sand Lake, WI) who married Catherine Summers (29 May 1833, Co. Cork, Ireland-8 Augl 1910, Hayward, WI) the first of January, 1851 in Waukesha, WI. James was one of fourteen children. His had one older sister, Mary Jordan (1851-1930), and apparently a twin brother, John Delois Jordan (17 Feb 1853-5 May 1919). The younger children were: William Jordan (1856, Elroy, Juneau, WI-3 Mar 1922); Rosanna (17 Jul 1859, Milwaukee-2 Oct 1906, Canton, Barron, WI); Louis N. Jordan (Jun 1861-1930); Thomas Henry Jordan (6 May 1863-11May 1937, Hayward, Sawyer, WI); Susan Ethel Jordan (July 1865, WI-28 Nov 1958, Selah, Yakima, WA); Emmet Robert Jordan (1868, WI-1 Apr 1931, Seattle, King, WA); Edward George Jordan (Mar 1870, Plymouth, WI-8 Oct 1938); Ellen Jordan (1872, WI-14 Nov 1940, Stone Lake, WI); and Lillian Agnes Jordan (1876, Plymouth, WI-16 Dec 1952, Ashland, WI).

James died 30 Sep 1912 and was buried in the St. Mary's Cemetery, Stanley., WI.

 Michael Jordan 1821-1893

Michael Jordan, an old and much respected citizen died at his late home 10 miles south of this city on Monday night.

Mr. Jordan had been sick for some time and his death was not a surprise. He was 72 years of age. He leaves behind him a wife and a large family of grown-up children. He was buried today from the Catholic Church, Rev. Father Sylvester officiating.
