        George Jones Wallbridge

Mr. Wallbridge, whose portrait appears above, was born in Orange Co., Vt., in  Nov. 1844. He lived there until 1857, when he came to Menasha, Wis. He lived near Menasha on a farm until 1874, when he came to Colby, his present home. In 1876 he opened a hardware store in Colby, and is still engaged in the hardware business. He has a fine large store and carries a full stock of that line of goods. He also owns a farm near Colby, and is quite largely interested in the raising of blooded stock. Mr. Walbridge was chairman of his township for four years, during which time he was chairman of the county board one year.

Henry Meritt has purchased the 80 acreas of George J. Wallbridge, that adjoins the city on the west, and is now occupied by Ghas. Meyers.  Henry will soon become an agriculturist.  Colby Phonograph, Colby, Wis. 15 Oct 1896
