~~Preface~~

I have written these stories which are about the early years of my life as I remembered them. I didn’t want the style of life in the 1920’s in rural central Wisconsin forgotten. I was afraid many of the interesting customs of the era would be if not put down in writing where in years to come they will be read and passed on.

My young life was very simple and uncomplicated, but it left me with a feeling of security and love. I grew up in a large family where I was loved and cared for in a style and manner similar to my friends.
I like telling stories. I have passed some of them on to my children but by putting them in a book I feel I have covered most of the happenings during this period and most of the traditions of my family.
I have written this small book with children in mind but I hope adults will also enjoy reading it.

I dedicate this small book
to my children,
my grandchildren, great-grandchildren
and all my descendents to come.
