NHS combined class reunion held

Seven classes of the Neillsville High School for the years 1940 through 1946, met for a reunion at the American Legion Hall Friday, September 12 (2008).  One hundred ten attended.

The fellowship time began at 2 p.m. and continued until 5 p.m., at which time all joined in for the Friday Nite Buffet served by the Legion.

Jerry Opelt, Master of Ceremonies for the afternoon, invited members to make comments and relate jokes for the entertainment of the group.  After the meal, a show of hands indicated that another reunion would be welcome in two years.  A donation of $600 to the American Legion Post 73 from the classmates was presented by Lorraine Shaw, class member, to Clem Schultz, representing the Legion.  Another contribution of $283 was given by the class of 1944.  Some classmates continued the reunion by gathering Saturday morning at the Olympic Restaurant for breakfast and more comradery.

Lorraine Shaw (r), representing the combined classes of 1940 through 1946, presented a check for $600 to Clem Schultz of the American Legion when the class reunion was held at the Legion Sept 12.

An additional $283.39 gift was made by the class of 1944 from the balance of their individual class funds.  (Contributed photo)
