Highground receives donation to Fountain of Tears

Saturday, Aug. 2, Kirk Rodman (l), general manager of The Highground, accepted a donation to the fountain of Tears Statuary Project from John Kienow (center) and Warren Bidwell of the Sauk County 40 et 8 organization.  As of August, the project raised over $96,000.  Expected to cost $125,000, every donation helps bring the project closer to completion.  The artist, Michael Martino from La Crosse, is currently working on life-size figures.  The Highground will dedicate this new tribute Memorial Day 2009 to fallen soldiers, their families and the lucky ones who have made it home.  (Contributed photo)
