Highground to hold Veterans Day ceremony

The Highground will observe Veterans Day with a 3 p.m. ceremony Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009.

The Neillsville VFW will honor veterans with rifle salutes; volunteers will lead the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem.

Beginning at 1 p.m., The Highground will remember the Wisconsin KIAs and MIAs from the war in Vietnam.  As is part of every ceremony at The Highground, the names will be read and the replica of the Liberty Bell will ring for every Wisconsin soldier killed in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.  “Let Them Not Go In Silence” it is The Highground’s way of remembering the most recent of American heroes.

Jennifer Gruba, David Hosking and Tyrone Patterson, counselors from the Madison Vet Center, will speak to those gathered on the plaza.  Coffee and cookies will be served after the ceremony.

The Highground is a place of healing and education and is a place for everyone.
