Meditation Stones placed at Highground

Friends and family of Dennis and Merna Koula, who passed away earlier this year, honor the former Neillsville residents with a Meditation Stone Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, at The Highground.  (Contributed photo)

Saturday, Sept. 11, was a day of remembering many people at The Highground in the Meditation Garden.

Of the 20-plus stones dedicated into the shelter, friends and relatives gathered for a heart warming ceremony that happens only once per year here.

Saturday’s ceremony brought visitors from far and near.  One stone dear too many was for Dennis and Merna Koula. A stone was placed for them stating: “Dennis and Merna Koula – Friends of Many- Friends of Ours.”

A nice group posed for pictures during the placement; kind words were said during the Talking Circle.  Many adored the couple, who will be remembered here at The Highground by all those who come and visit in the future.

Registry information is available for all to read in the Timberframe Gift Shop about the Koulas.  The Koula stone and other Mediation Stones helped all enjoy a memorable day.
