Saturday, Aug. 28, provided the perfect day for placing 25 new Legacy Stones in the walkway at The Highground.

Wind picked up, making it refreshing to be on the plaza for the talking circle.  Saturday’s ceremony marked the sixth of 10 ceremonies that will be held at The Highground.

Volunteer master of ceremonies Cindy Boon was at her best with the large crowd and the arrangement of stones being placed in east and west walkway areas.

Boon’s dedication and flexibility made the whole day go well.  Skip Klabon helped set up and organize the crowd into the talking circle. With volunteers and others like them, the stone ceremonies run smoothly and make them even more special to those placing stones.

Saturday’s ceremony brought a wonderful group of visitors, many from out of state. Shelters were reserved for picnics/reunions after the ceremony; families occupied plaza picnic tables. The food they shared looked great – they even shared with Highground staff and volunteers.

The talking circle was well-defined and huge, covering the whole plaza.  It was a memorable day for all.
