Highground Happenings

Last week was a busy one at The Highground Veterans Memorial Park west of Neillsville.  On Tuesday, the three separate statues for the future Korean War Memorial were placed on granite slabs with a crane.

Michael Martino (left), the sculptor, was on hand for the final positioning of each figure.  The Highground’s volunteer general manager, Kirk Rodman, assisted in the task.  The memorial will be dedicated on July 28th

Then on Friday, a new illuminated and double sided sign for The Highground was erected, giving its staff the ability to let passers-by know about upcoming events.  A gift from the Van Gorden and Neff families, of Neillsville, the sign will hopefully increase participation in the veteran park’s many events throughout the year.  (Contributed photos)
