Highground?s? Diversity Day to be held

The Highground will hold Diversity Day Tuesday, Sept. 21; from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for students in grades three through nine.

Last year, seven schools attended Diversity Day; The Highground anticipates approximately the same number this year.

Considering the wealth of cultural resources in north central Wisconsin, Diversity Day will include presentations by members of Slovenian, Pomeranian-German and Native American cultures, as well as those physically challenged and others. The Highground tour will also include exposure to its developmental forest walking trails.

The mission and objectives of Diversity Day are to celebrate similarities and differences, to recognize misinformation, to claim pride in group identity, to understand the personal impact of discrimination through the telling of stories and to learn hands-on tools for dealing effectively with discriminating comments and behavior.

The Highground invites schools to visit the veterans? park for a unique education-filled day. Teachers and students are encouraged to become part of The Highground?s mission of healing and education.

The Highground would like to have schools signed up by Friday, Sept. 17.  For more information or to register for Diversity Day, call 715-743-4224
