Wisconsin counties uniting in stone at The Highground

Eight more Wisconsin counties were represented during the latest dedication ceremony on the Wisconsin counties United In Service Tribute at The Highground Veterans Memorial Park Saturday afternoon.  Of the state's 72 counties, 54 now have engraved stones on the tribute located at the point of the elevated Highground plaza.  During Saturday's ceremony, County Veteran Service Officers (CVSOs) and other representatives from each of the counties spoke of the significance of the stones showing the county's recognition and support for their veterans.  Larry Weber (inset), a member of Loomis-Martin American Legion Post 188 of Walworth County may well have been speaking for many others from the southeastern Wisconsin county who gave of time and effort in the project, but were not able to be in attendance, "I'm proud to be here today," he said.
