Melanie Boeck, who has been working as the Granton Post Office postmaster since March, was sworn in as the permanent Granton Postmaster Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, at the Granton Post Office.

Boeck has worked at several post offices throughout the state, including 13 years at Iron Ridge’s Post Office, but had worked at the Marshfield Post Office since 1996.

For the past three years, Boeck had been the customer service supervisor for the Marshfield Post Office before taking the job in Granton in March.

Boeck looks forward to “working with the community” and Granton Post Office employees.

Community members visiting the post office and understanding what the post office does is important to Boeck.

“Community trust is a big thing,” said Boeck.

Boeck’s family, including husband Bob, son Brett and daughter Brittanie, was on hand Tuesday morning when Lakeland District Post Office Operations Manager Mark Rusk swore her in as postmaster.

“Today is a very special day,” said Rusk.  “I knew that [Boeck] was the best postmaster for the town."

Rusk stated Boeck will work well with the community and presented her with a framed message from U. S. Postmaster General John E. Potter in Washington D. C.
