Class History

“Helo, Friends! This is station, Freshmen G.H.S., Delose Walker, class adviser, speaking. We have the largest class in high school this year. Fifty- three students enrolled in the class in the fall of 1936. The first semester Louise Pohl and Edward Susa withdrew and Helen Brezic joined us. The second semester William Price withdrew, leaving a total of fifty-one freshmen.

Our class officers are: Vernon Mech, president; Gearld Nuenfeldt, vice president; Elaine Burker, treasurer; Kenneth Luther, secretary; and Harry Behrens, class reporter.

We have been taking fourth place in most of the events this year, but we don’t intend to stay there long.

We have a large representation in the various school activities, especially basketball They couldn’t do very well with our class there. Our basketball members are: Bobby Brown, Kenneth Brown, Harold Lyon, Vernon Mech, Harold Jackson, and Lyle Stafford.

We have fifteen members of our class in the band, four in Forensics, seven in the F. F. A., six play football, five in the Glee Club, four in the Dramatics Club, five on the Honor Roll, and one member on the Echoes staff.

Our class color is traditionally green. Here’s to the Freshmen, the evergreen of the school. “May they always be spruce and never pine.”
