| Clarendon L. Smith, son of John T. and Mary Smith was born April 19, 1852 |
| at Kenosha, Wisconsin and died November 19, 1925 at Browerville, |
| Minnesota. At 8 years of age he moved with his parents to Princeton, Green |
| Lake County, Wisconsin where he grew to manhood. He was married January |
| 2, 1875 to Miss Emma Ferris: to this union were born three children. In |
| 1878, he moved with his family to York Center, Clark County, Wisconsin |
| where he bought a farm and was one of the pioneer settlers of Clark County. |
| He lived here until the death of his wife March 22, 1912 when he sold his farm |
| and shortly afterward moved to Chetek, Wisconsin where he lived until about |
| five years ago, since then making his home among his children. In the year |
| 1894 he was converted in revival meeting under the labor of Rev. |
| Brookmiller in the Methodist Episcopal Church. In 1895, he and his wife |
| united with the Free Methodist Church in which he lived a consistent |
| Christian life to the time of his death. The last year was spent in Minnesota |
| with his daughter where he made many friends. His abundant labor of love |
| endeared him to all. "He walked with God and was not for God to look for |
| him." He leaves to mourn his loss, one brother, Ellsworth L. Smith of |
| Corning, California. Two sons, Guy C. Smith of Loyal, Wisconsin; Lee F. |
| Smith of Middleton, Idaho; one daughter, Mrs. Ethel Kendall of Browerville, |
| Minnesota; thirteen grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends. His |
| body was laid to rest in the York Center Cemetery, funeral services being |
| conducted by Rev. F. F. Wolfe of Milwaukee. | |||||||||||

He leaves to mourn his loss one brother, Ellsworth Smith of Corning, California; | ||||||||||||
three children, Mrs. G. C. Smith of Loyal, Lee F. Smith of Middleton, Idaho and | ||||||||||||
Mrs. Ethel Kendall of Browerville, Minnesota and thirteen grandchildren. He spent | ||||||||||||
the last year with his daughter in Minnesota, where he passed away. Mr. and Mrs. | ||||||||||||
Kendall and daughter came back here with his remains last Friday. The funeral was | ||||||||||||
held Saturday in the M.E. Church at York Center. Rev. T. T. Wolfe of Milwaukee | ||||||||||||
preached the funeral sermon and he was laid to rest in the York Center Cemetery | ||||||||||||
beside his wife. |
