Himes, Lester L. (27 May 1907 - 19 November 1983)

WITHEE - Lester L. Himes, 76, Route 1, Withee, died of an apparent heart attack while hunting deer with family members Saturday afternoon in the Town of Longwood. He had gone into the woods about 7:30 a.m. and his son found him lying on the ground shortly before 2 p.m.

Services will be Tuesday at Withee Methodist Church. The Rev. Clyde King will officiate with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Withee. Visitation will be at the Maurina Funeral home, Owen.

He was born May 27, 1907 in the Town of Beaver, Clark County, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Arthur (Nette Cary) Himes. He married Leona Burmester October 17, 1936 at her home. The couple farmed in the Town of Longwood until retiring in 1971.

He was a supervisor for the Town of Longwood and a member of the Spring Valley School Board for many years. He was also a member of Withee Methodist Church and the Black River Rod and Gun Club.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Curtis (Nancy) Garrett of Withee; two sons, Leslie of West Allis and Douglas of Sarasota, Florida; two brothers, Arthur Himes of Owen and Delmar Himes of Finland, Minnesota; three sisters, Mrs. Alma Lange of Milwaukee, Mrs. Hazel Acker of Greenwood and Mrs. Estelle Creg of Owen; and four grandchildren.

He was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters.
