Gwiazda, Gloria M. (1956? – 5 Mar 2023)

On the morning of Sunday, March 5, 2023 Gloria Marie Gwiazda (Wellner) passed away peacefully at the age of 66, after a hard fight for 3 weeks. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Duane Walter Gwiazda.

Anyone who knew Gloria knew her to be kind, intelligent, charming, funny, but above all, strong. She dedicated her life to caring for her husband and two daughters, Gina and Dani. Gloria absolutely adored her two incredible grandchildren, Izzy and Quintin. As her family we carry in our hearts many incredible memories of Gloria. From her pride of being able to pay for her 1976 Camaro in full at the age of 19 to transitioning to living on the east coast with our father being in the Army. She had a profound love for reading, especially anything to do with the Civil War, all the way to Stephen King. As her children we loved the holidays that Gloria worked so hard to make magical and spent time as a family decorating her delicious homemade cookies to decorating East Eggs, even dipping the cat’s tail in the color to dye it for the holiday. Of course, my sister and I hold separate memories we cherish as well. For Gina, one of her fondest memories is preventing our parents from going into the house by holding them off with a garden hose, amongst many others. For Dani it was playing a pool in a hotel for so long we didn’t even realize what time it was until we could smell the coffee being made in the early morning hours. Gloria always made sure to plan incredible family vacations every year that include walking on beaches in Mexico to touring every lighthouse in Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. She was without a doubt unbeatable at lawn darts and croquet, trust me when I say she was unbeatable. We would play for hours as a family, to the point dad had to rig up outdoor lights to illuminate the lawn, because we were all trying to win one game against her, we were unsuccessful. Gloria also loved spoiling her grandchildren with candy, root beer and great conversations about what they want in life. Gloria will be greatly missed, but my sister and I find comfort knowing that our parents are together again for all eternity.

Gloria is survived by her daughters, Gina (Zac) and Dani (Dwayne), and her grandchildren, Izzy and Quintin.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Duane Walter Gwiazda.

Graveside services for Gloria Gwiazda will be held Friday, March 17, 2023 at 2 p.m. at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery near Spooner, Wisconsin, with Father Phil Juza officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, , from noon until 1:30 at the Spooner Funeral Home in Spooner.
