Janet R. Haldeman, 66, of rural Augusta, passed away early Monday morning, March 6, 2023, while hospitalized at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

Janet Rae was born June 17, 1956, in Viroqua, to Robert and Bernice (Olson) Widner. At the age of 6 she was adopted by Vernon and Dorothy (Mork) Henaman and grew up on their farm in Greenwood. She graduated from Greenwood High School in 1974 and following her graduation she moved to Florida.

She moved back to Wisconsin with her 3 children in 1992 and met Steven Haldeman who she later married on June 18, 1994, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. The couple lived all of their married life on the Haldeman farm where Janet worked alongside her husband, enjoyed her many cats, occasionally driving tractor and always giving the farm help a playful “hard” time. She enjoyed driving through the countryside and often kidded that her vacation was driving to Mondovi for tractor parts. Janet had a wonderful sense of humor, enjoyed fishing, going to the casino and spending time with her grand and great grandchildren. Janet always looked forward to the many family gatherings that were had throughout the years. She cherished her many friendships and with Steve’s help the two were not only friends by also caregivers to Ray Hardesty before his passing.

Janet will be deeply missed by Steve, her loving husband of 28 years; son Robert (Jeannie) McLemore of Eau Claire; 2 daughters, Billie (DuWayne) Lantz of Fairchild, Miriam McLemore of Eau Claire; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She is further survived by 7 siblings, Rachel (David) Rogstad of Alma Center, Jane (Dennis) Zielinski of Mosinee, Esther Lobacz of Greenwood, Joyce (Ronald) Johnson of Blair, James (Jeannie) Henaman of Mosinee, Jon (Clara) Henaman of Spencer, Jean (Richard) Osweiler of Holmen; Steve’s siblings, Darrel (Marna) Haldeman of Kennewick, WA, Judy (Knute “Butch”) Nelson of St. Paul, MN, Jeff (Melissa) Haldeman of West Salem; several nieces and nephews; and canine companion Abby who was always by her side watching out for her. .

In addition to her parents, Janet was also preceded in death by her sister Betty Hoff; brother-in-law Richard Lobacz; nephews, David Henaman and Jonathan Johnson; infant granddaughter Fawn Marie Otto; and special friends, Vicki Clark and Ray Hardesty.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 10, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with burial in the East Lawn Cemetery in Augusta.

Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
