Sunday, a double celebration was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Corwin Dallman, Unity, for Easter and their twenty ninth wedding anniversary.

Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Leo Bloom, Mrs. Signe Johnson, Esther Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Aer and sons, Brad and Doug, Mr. and Mrs. Don Gipp and son Corey, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Johnson, Cathy Dallman, all of Unity, Denny Bloom, River Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Dallman, Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Ayer and son Jeff, Appleton, Mr. and Mrs. Dennie Dallman and children, Spencer, Robert Ayer, Beloit, and Roxanne Clarkson, Dorchester.

Beck, David George (15 August 1928 – 2 July 2024)

David G. Beck, age 95 of Neillsville, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at the Clark County Rehab & Living Center. David was born on August 15, 1928, in Peckville, PA to the late George and Nellie (Gendall) Beck.

He received his education in Blakely, PA. David was united in marriage to Shirley Karpinski on November 27, 1947, in Blakely. Shirley passed away on December 3, 2008. After marriage, they resided in Matawan and Morganville, NJ where he worked for Nappi Trucking Co. in New Jersey. In 1974, they moved to Neillsville to live out his childhood dream of owning and operating a dairy farm. When David retired, he enjoyed selling his vegetables at the farmers markets.

David was a tinkerer, especially with engines. He was an engineer in his own right. He had a passion for animals, always donating to the humane association. David belonged to the United Church of Christ in Neillsville.

He is survived by his children: Virginia (Charles) Biggs, George (Linda) Beck, Phillis (David) Brey, Kip (Cheryl) Beck, Richard (Susan) Beck and Jof (Marie) Beck; 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his wife, Shirley, parents, 3 siblings and daughter-in-law Margie.

Private graveside services will be held at the Chapel Hill Cemetery, Town of Christie, Clark County.

Decker, Beatrice Lorraine (10 July 1930 – 9 July 2024)

Beatrice Lorraine (Krug) Decker, age 93 passed away peacefully on July 9, 2024, just one day shy of her 94th birthday, at Colonial Center under the tender care of St. Croix Hospice Services. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Colby Thursday July 11, 2024. Visitation will be held 10:00 – 12:00 on Thursday at the church. The Reverend James Groleau will officiate.

Beatrice was born July 10, 1930, to Andrew and Ethel Krug. She attended Pine Creek School in the Town of Holway and graduated from Owen High School in 1950. After graduation she worked at Ideal Café and Paulie’s Quick Lunch. On September 6, 1952, Beatrice married the love of her life, Virgil Decker at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in the Town of Holway. Together they raised 5 children, and she enjoyed watching them grow up. She then worked at Packaging Corporation in Colby and finished her career baking delicious pies at the Abby Cafe in Abbotsford.

She is survived by her loving husband, Virgil and their 5 children, Gail (late Charles) Flick, Sheryl (Jeffrey) Welhouse, Linda (Gary) Meyer, Dennis (Ellen) Decker, and Scott (Julie) Decker.

She is lovingly survived by 13 grandchildren, Tim (Krissy) Flick, Sara (David) Curtin, Crystal (Tyler) Flick, Nic (Jayce) Welhouse, Courtney (Tyler) Welhouse, Michelle (Scott) Decker, Ryan (Noelle) Meyer, Brock (Jamie) Meyer, Taylor Meyer, Melissa Decker, Aaron (Megan) Decker, Megan (Drew) Bitters, Michael Decker, and 19 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by one brother, Dale and two sisters, Annabelle Neitzel and Jane Mathews.

Beatrice was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Dean, George, William and Jerry, and her sister Darlene.

Beatrice will be remembered as an amazing wife and mother. She always had a smile on her face and was always ready to kick up her heels. She will be missed by many.

The family would like to thank the Colby Colonial Center for their excellent care and St. Croix Hospice Services for the wonderful care they provided. A memorial in her honor will be set up at a later date.

Grade, Douglas Eugene (25 February 1935 – 8 July 2024)

Douglas E. Grade, age 89, of Neillsville, died on Monday, July 8, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.

Douglas Eugene Grade was born on February 25, 1935, in Granton, the son of Clifford and Mildred (Hanke) Grade. He was united in marriage to Frances Dyer on August 9, 1949, in Beloit. Doug worked several years at Greenlease in Rockford, as a machinist. They eventually moved to central Wisconsin. Douglas loved fishing and watching Nascar, but his family was his world.

He is survived by 5 children; Cindy (John) Dammann of Marshfield, Linda Grade of Neillsville, Douglas (Lilibeth) Grade of Madison, AL, Judy (George) Crothers of Neillsville and Steven (Cheryl) Grade of Fond du Lac, WI, 15 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, wife Frances in 2011, and a grandson, Tyler.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 11, 2024, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday morning prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in the Town of Lynn Cemetery.

Hauge, Terry James (3 February 1948 – 28 June 2024) With Flag

Terry J. Hauge, age 76, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2024, in Tomah.

Terry was born in Neillsville, on February 3, 1948, to James and Janet (Kunze) Hauge. He loved hunting, fishing and trap shooting. Terry served in the Army National Guard for 22 years. He was a jack of all trades and a master of none. Terry loved his family as they loved him.

Terry is survived by his wife, Robin; his children; Patty (Tom) Petersen, Wisconsin Rapids, Melissa (Eric) Danzeisen, Menomonie, and Dustin Hauge (Sara), Elroy; his nephew, Ryan Hauge and family. He is further survived by three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Terry was preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca June Hauge; and his parents, James and Janet Hauge.

A celebration of Terry’s life will be held at a later date.

Kunze, Bernard J. “Bud”(16 Jun 1927 – 8 Jul 2024) With Flag

Bernard “Bud” J. Kunze, age 97, of Abbotsford, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, July 8, 2024, at the Colonial Health and Rehab in Colby under the tender care of St. Croix Hospice.

Bernard was born on June 16, 1927, the son of Joseph and Catherine (Meyer) Kunze in Abbotsford. He attended Riverside school in the Town of Hull and joined the US Army. He served from 1945-48, stationed in Germany. On August 13, 1952, Bernard was united in marriage to Beverly Lindberg in Abbotsford.

Bernard was a truck driver and drove truck delivering fuel oil. He also raised beef cattle, liked to fish all year round and enjoyed hunting. Bernard was a member of the Abbotsford VFW.

Bernard is survived by his wife of 71 years, Beverly; five children: Mary Kunze of Dorchester, James (Darlene) Kunze, Marie Kunze (Bill Stelter), Bill (Brenda) Kunze and Robert (Tiffiny) Kunze all of Abbotsford; four grandchildren: Jenny (Kevin) Schueller, Jami Kunze, Justin (Sadie) Kunze and Emily (Ryan) Chart; seven great grandchildren: Kyden and Kaesyn Schueller, Ava, Eli and Isaiah Chart, Adeline and Lane Kunze; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers and sisters: Frances, Raymond, Lawrence, Gilbert and Estella “Teda”, and in infancy, Herbert and Helen Kunze.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 15, 2024, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Abbotsford. Father Arockia Amirtha Raj Stanislaus and Father Michael Hayden will officiate. Family and friends are welcome from 1100 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Interment to follow at the Abbotsford Public Cemetery with Military Honors provided by provided by the Colby VFW Post #2227.

Oliver, Oran Brett (5 October 1959 – 30 June 2024)

Oran Brett Oliver, age 64, of Neillsville, died Sunday, June 30, 2024, at the Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield.

Oran Brett Oliver was born on October 5, 1959, the son of Oran Morris and Sarah Anne (Sonntag) Oliver. He attended school in Neillsville, and then traveled around the Midwest for work. He also worked for Kurt Marg and most recently as a barn stall installer.

He is survived by his long-time significant other, Lori Gallagher of Neillsville, and two brothers, Ernest Oliver of Hobart, IN and Bill (Debbie) Oliver of Merrillville, IN.

Brett was preceded in death by his parents, and Ernest’s long-time partner, Pam Goethe, and his beloved cat, Puddy Cat.

A private graveside service for Brett will be held at the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Schultz, Jon Terry (16 December 1937 – 24 June 2024)

Jon T. Schultz, age 86, of Willard, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024, at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee.

Jon Terry Schultz was born on December 16, 1937, in Rochester, MN, to Walter J. and Allene E. (Halling) Schultz. When he was 5 years old, his family moved to Washington State for a few years, before returning to the Midwest and settling in Chaseburg, WI. Jon received his education in the Chaseburg area, and graduated from Westby High School in Westby, WI. After high school, he moved to Kenosha and went to work for American Motors as a mechanic. He was united in marriage to Darlene B. Arthur on April 25, 1964, in Waukegan, IL. They settled in Union Grove, WI where they raised their two children, and Jon continued to work for American Motors until retiring in 1987. After retiring, they moved to Willard and lived in a home on Mead Lake.

He had many interests, but especially loved fixing and restoring old cars, woodworking, hunting, deer, elk, bear, turkeys, pheasants and grouse, and he loved a good bottle of beer and a nice whiskey old fashion with a cherry and olive.

Jon is survived by his two children: Robbie (Ann) Schultz of Union Grove, WI, Terri (Jeff) Servais of New Berlin, WI; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Darlene, on April 27, 2005.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Greenwood, WI, with Rev. Elizabeth Bier officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

Troka, Thelma J. (17 July 1935 – 8 July 2024)

Thelma J. Troka, age 88, of Colby, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, July 8, 2024, at the House of the Dove in Marshfield. under the tender care of Compassus Hospice.

Thelma was born on July 17, 1935, the daughter of Carl and Esther (Noffke) Kohler in Chicago, IL. On June 28, 1958, she was united in marriage to Eugene Troka in Chicago where they began raising their family. In August of 1969, they moved to a country home in Riplinger. Thelma worked various jobs including K-Mart, Jewel, Woolworths and was a baker at Hedlers Grocery Store. He preceded her in death on June 26, 2023.

Thelma loved working in retail because of her love of talking to people and the flexibility of raising her family. She enjoyed bowling, playing smear, gardening, camping, dancing and music. Thelma was a “Mom” to so many but most especially, she loved and cherished her family.

Thelma is survived by; four children: Ginny (Chuck) Lundeen of Colby, Eugene Troka of Boscobel, JoAnne Troka (John Harding) of Abbotsford and Janice (Aaron) Jones of Abbotsford; 12 grandchildren: Brandi, Ben, Beth, Carlee, Crystal, Chip, Autumn, Troy, Markie, Molly, Aaron and Chloe; 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. She is further survived by seven brothers and sisters: Kenneth, Merry, Karl, Janet, Patricia, Sandra, Brenda; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene and eight siblings: Janie, Roxie, Marion, Eddie, Albert, Esther, Margaret and Larry.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford. There will be a time of Remembrance at 7:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Urbas, Donald H. (20 March 1930 – 8 July 2024) With Flag

Donald H Urbas, 94, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024, in Chippewa Falls.

He was born in Chicago on March 20, 1930, to Stanley and Olga Urbas. Don graduated at the age of 16 from Thorp High School in 1946 and then worked in Chicago. Don married Mary Ann Lewan from Gilman and they were married 57 years before Mary Ann’s passing. They lived in Thorp and then moved to Lake Hallie where they raised their family.

Don had many interests such as: deer hunting with his sons, trout fishing, camping, growing a garden, and politics. Don was a bricklayer till the age of 66. Don became a member of the Bricklayers Union in 1948 and maintained that membership until he passed away, he spent 20 of those years as the President of the Union. Don entered the army in June of 1951 and was a Private First Class working on Signal Repair.

Don is survived by; six children, Michael (Janet) Urbas, Barry Urbas, Sandra (John) Hjortland, Bruce (Katy) Urbas, William Urbas, and Linda (Todd Johnston) Urbas; five grandchildren, Ben, Alex, Sam, Morgan (Eric Svenson and daughter Adelaide), and Trace; he is also survived by his sister Patricia Cohen of Mims, FL and brother Stanley (Laurie) Urbas of Seabeck, WA. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann (Lewan) Urbas, his parents, Stanley and Olga Urbas and his brother Raymond Urbas.

There will be a private family Graveside service held at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spooner, WI where Military Rites will be accorded by the Rice Lake Veterans Center Honor Guard. The family asks in lieu of flowers, a gift to Irvine Park in Chippewa Falls Wisconsin in Donald’s name. The park was a place he donated to many times and greatly enjoyed.
