Laube, Harold H. (16 September 1931 – 15 February 2023) With Flag

Harold H. Laube, age 91, of Owen, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, in Marshfield.

Harold was born September 16, 1931, in Owen to Henry and Minnie (Franz) Laube. He attended rural Owen North Bright grade school and graduated from Owen High School in 1949. Harold was drafted into the army during the Korean conflict February 1952 serving with the army transportation corps with 16 month in Moji Japan as mail and message center clerk.

Harold was honorably discharged in 1954. Harold was united in marriage to Fern A. Bach May 1, 1954, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville. Together they farmed and raised their 10 children on the family farm, rural Owen until retirement in 1991, then retired in Owen.

Harold was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society, Post 123 American Legion, Vets Club, past Green Grove Town Board, and held offices in the Legion, Bowmans Club, Black River Sportsman Club, and the Atwood softball board, a Ascs Committee, and tri-state delegate as well as volunteer work. Harold enjoyed sports of every kind especially hunting, fishing, football and watching high school sports. Earlier years he enjoyed fox and coon hunting with his Plott hounds and fishing in Alaska and Canada and hunting out west.

Harold is survived by his wife Fern, seven children: four sons; Dale (Yvonne) Belleville, Gene (Katrina) Eagan, MN, Phil (Maria) Brainerd, MN, Paul (Krisan) River Falls, and 3 daughters; Sharon (Craig) Scheinost, Owen, Barbara (Bob) Fortier, Milwaukee, and Cheryl (Pat) Carr, Winona, MN, 25 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by sister-in-law, Harriett Laube; many nieces and nephews.

Harold was preceded in death by three daughters: Ann and Joan in 1974 and Mary (Bob) Purkapile in 2020; his parents and his brother, Richard; and sisters, Edna (Virgil) Bublitz and Berniece (Ed) Potocnik.

A time of visitation will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 24 at Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen. There will be a parish Rosary Service at 4:00. A visitation will also be held on Saturday at Holy Rosary from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. when a eulogy will be recited followed by a Military Salute. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen with Father Stanislaus Michael Antony officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Military rites will be conducted by Owen American Legion Post #123, Owen-Withee Vets Club and Thorp VFW Post #9057. A live stream will be available for those unable to attend on the Maurina Schilling Funeral Home Facebook page or after the service anytime on Facebook or the website.

In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to be made to Holy Rosary Church, Owen, the Black River sportsman Club, Vets Club, or the American Legion Post 123 Owen.
