Fritz, Arlie L. (6 October 1912 – 20 November 1982) With Flag

Arlie L. Fritz, 70, suffered an apparent fatal heart attack on Saturday morning—the first day of deer season—while he was hunting in the Town of Hewett.

The deceased was born on October 6, 1912, in Leopolis to August and Emily (Dodgson) Fritz. He received his education in Shawano schools, graduating from high school. He then took one year’s teacher’s training. Fritz then worked at the Globe Conservation Corp Camp. During this time, he married Emma Q Quinlan in Farmington ceremonies.

In 1944, Fritz entered the service, seeing action with the air force in the Burma Campaign. He was released from the military in 1946. After the war, Fritz worked in Chicago with the welfare department for a few years and then was employed by the Armour Company in Chicago for 29 years. He retired ten years ago and moved to Neillsville where he made his home at 611 East Fifth Street. Fritz was a member of St. Mary’s parish and the Neillsville American Legion Post.

Surviving him, besides his wife, is a sister, Mrs. Leslie (Florence) Osterloth, Clintonville. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dewey.

Funeral services were to be held on Wednesday morning, November 24, at 10:30 from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville. The Rev. Joseph Henseler was to officiate, with burial in the Neillsville City Cemetery. (The body was to lie in state at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville on Tuesday from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday morning until 10:00 a.m.).
