Schorer, Verland W. (24 Dec 1920 – 26 Nov 1976)

Funeral services were held Monday, November 29, 1976, for Verland W. Schorer, age 55, of Colby.

The Rev. Kenneth A. Dix officiated at the 1:30 p.m. services held at the First United Church of Christ, Colby. Burial followed in the Colby Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Schorer died Friday, November 26 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.

He was born December 24, 1920 in Wisconsin. He married Ruth Peterson on April 16, 1941 at Harvard, Illinois. She preceded him in death in 1971.

He farmed in the Jim Falls and Colby area and was a veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Agnes Voelker Dettman, Colby; four sons, John, Abbotsford, Walter, David and Dennis, all of Colby; three daughters, Mrs. Darrel (Judy) Elpert, Mrs. Robert (Jane) Geiger and Mrs. Gary (Joyce) Oestreich, all of Colby; nine grandchildren; one brother, William, Rockford, and eight sisters, Mrs. Carl (Alice) Hankey, Harshaw; Mrs. Lawrence (Nellie) Tlusty, Medford; Mrs. Robert (Myrtle) Bunning, Michigan; Mrs. Stella McCann, Milwaukee; Mrs. Albert (Hilda) Genett, Spencer; Mrs. Virginia McNaul, Chili; Mrs. Charles (Joyce) Ohlinger, Abbotsford, and Mrs. William (Grace) Knowles, Milwaukee.
