Votava, Jenice Betty (3 October 1982)

Jenice Betty Votava and Curtis James Schrage were united in marriage on Saturday afternoon, October 3, in ceremonies at the Neillsville Assembly of God Church. Officiating was Rev. Lloyd Hohn. Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Vivian Votava, rural Neillsville, and parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. William Schrage, Waverly, Iowa.

Steve Votava and Leora Bartz offered special music for the service.

Serving as maid of honor was Tammy Schultz, a friend of the bride from Middleton. Joining her were Pat Friemoth, a friend from Neillsville; Renae Davis, the bride’s sister of Marshfield; and Dawn Votava a sister of the bride from Neillsville.

David Bibler, San Leandro, California, was bestman. He was joined by Dennis Drape and Thomas, both of Waverly; and Don Brandt, Cedar Falls, Iowa. Ushering were Craig Votava of Marshfield and Clinton and Cam Schrage, both of Waverly.

The bride chose a luster-glo kinit gown with silk Venician lace trimming the bodice, a Queen Anne neckline and bishop sleeves. Her crystal-pleated skirt was edged with Rachele lace and the attached watteau-style train flowed to semi-cathedral-length and was edged with lace. She wore a fingertip- length illusion veil with a lace covered Juliet cap. She carried a bouquet in huckleberry and mauve tones. Her attendants wore gowns in polyester knit with sweetheart necklines, tunnel tied capelet sleeves and raised waistlines. The maid of honor wore mauve while the others attendants wore huckleberry.

Following the service a reception and dance was held at the Neillsville American Legion Hall. (A second reception and dance will be held this coming Saturday in Waverly.)

The bride is a graduate of Neillsville High School and took one year in fashion merchandising at District I Tech-Eau Claire. She is employed by J.C. Penny’s in Maquoketa. Her husband is a 1976 graduate of Sell Rock High School of Waverly and is employed as manager of Schultz’s Family Store in Maquoketa. (The groom was formerly the manager of the Neillsville Schultz Brothers store.) The couple will make their home in Maquoketa, Iowa.
