Turnquist, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur (Golden – 27 July 1982)

Arthur and Leona Turnquist celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, July 24, in Greenwood. The recent celebration included a dinner at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church with a program including speeches by the Rev. Sam Kochel of Our Saviour’s and sons and son-in-law of the couple and plus musical performance by grandchildren. Also during the dinner, Arvid and Adelaide Myhrwold, sang songs.

The couple, Arthur Turnquist and Leona Olson, was married on July 27, 1932, in Greenwood.

Arthur was born in Greenwood on July 28, 1906, to John and Marie Turnquist. He attended local schools and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1925. He farmed until recent retirement.

Leona was born on July 16, 1911, in Greenwood to Henry and Nora Olson. She graduated from Greenwood High School in 1929 and then taught school. She is presently employed by the Clark County Department of Social Services.

Attending the festivities were Edna Meyer, a cousin of Arthur, and Evelyn Turnquist, Leona’s sister, who both were original attendants at the Turnquist-Olson wedding.

All of the Turnquist children and most of their families were present for the celebration. They included the families of Mr./Mrs. Allen Turnquist, Waukesha; Mr./Mrs. Ronald Turnquist and Mr./Mrs. Michael Petfalski, all of Milwaukee; John Turnquist, Portland, Or.; Mr./Mrs. James Turnquist, Greenwood; Mr./Mrs. Paul Schreiner, Loyal; Mr./Mrs. Arlyn Turnquist, Wausau; Mr/Mrs. Arthur Feldman, Owen: Mr./Mrs. Michael Miller, La Crosse; Mr./Mrs. Robert Turnquist, Stevens Point; Mr./Mrs. Dennis Turnquist, Pittsville; Mr./Mrs. William Turnquist, West DePere; Mr./Mrs. Jerry Lamovec, Willard; Mr./Mrs. Eugene Turnquist, Greenwood; Mr./Mrs. Robert Turnquist, Kenosha; Mr./Mrs. Wayne Turnquist, Owen; and Mr./Mrs. Douglas Golke, Janesville.
