Dyson, Jean Louise (11 November 1965 – 28 December 2022)

Jean Louise Dyson, 57, of Fall Creek and formerly of Augusta, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.

Jean was born November 11, 1965, in Neillsville the daughter of Robert and Ruth (Esser) Fitzmaurice. She was baptized at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Alma Center and confirmed at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Augusta. For the first 3 years of her life she was raised in Humbird, and then in 1968 her parents moved to Augusta. She attended Augusta Elementary School and graduated from Augusta High School in 1984. Jean’s son Jacob Robert Dyson was born on Nov. 26, 1985, and together they lived in the Augusta and Fall Creek area. Jacob preceded his mother in death on Oct. 22, 2018.

Jean worked as a waitress and bartender most of her life starting early at the café in Fall Creek. She then worked for several years at Connell’s Supper Club before becoming the owner of the Black Bear Supper Club in Augusta.

Jean could whip up a mean old fashioned, and had quite the green thumb. She loved her flower gardens and spent many hours planting bulbs and creating a beautiful backyard. Jean enjoyed deer hunting, and playing cards. She was a great story teller, and had a fantastic sense of humor. She enjoyed playing fantasy football and loved the Green Bay Packers with a passion.

After the passing of her significant other, Keith Sluis, her son, Jacob, and her COPD diagnosis, she was retired and living in Fall Creek.

Jean will be dearly missed by her 3 brothers, Dennis and Darlene Fitzmaurice of Augusta, William and Linda Fitzmaurice of Eau Claire, Robert and Susan Fitzmaurice of Augusta; uncle James Esser of Spooner; Aunt Darlene Fitzmaurice of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; several cousins, nieces and nephews and their families, and her beloved cat, Pumpkin.

In addition to her son Jacob, Jean was preceded in death by her father Robert in 1982; significant other Keith Sluis in 2011, her mother Ruth in 2016; sisters, Carol Mayer and Joanne LeMere both in 2018; and brother-in-law Gerald LeMere in 2022.

Our family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of Jean’s friends, employees, and patrons over the years that helped her along the way. Your love, kindness and support will not be forgotten.

A private burial will be held in the West Lawn Cemetery in Augusta.

Online condolences can be left at www.andersonfhaugusta.com.  The family is assisted by the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta.
