Local Teen Distinguishes Himself to WHA (Begert - 2022)

The Wisconsin Holstein Association (WHA) will hold its annual Junior Holstein Convention in collaboration with the Manitowoc/Calumet Junior Holstein Association at the Holiday Inn in Manitowoc, Jan. 6–8, 2023.
Youth from across the state will be recognized for their outstanding achievements in multiple categories. The top award recipients for those excelling with their junior Holstein projects will be the distinguished junior members (YDJM, ages 17–21,) young distinguished junior members (ages 13–16,) and 12-and-under recognition award winners. They will be recognized the evening of Jan. 7, 2023.
Recognized as a YDJM this year is Jaron Begert. Begert, 13, is the son of Brian and Kari Begert and farms with his family at Echowood Holsteins where they milk 600 registered cows. Begert is active in Clark County Junior Holsteins, participating in dairy bowl and showing his Holsteins.
Begert loves to farm, helping with all tasks from packing bunker to pushing feed to cleaning heifer packs to herd health. He and his dad have produced over 70 videos shared on YouTube to educate consumers on what farmers do every day to take care of their animals. When not on the farm, Begert likes to ski, hunt, fish and drive on ATV trails.
The WHA is a nonprofit organization that strives to increase knowledge and provide opportunities to youth by involvement through the Registered Holstein project. The Association positively influences young people by recognizing and congratulating their achievements and accomplishments in the dairy industry.
