Thoma, Mr. and Mrs. Harold (40th – 20 June 1982)

A surprise 40th wedding anniversary celebration, hosted by their children and families, was held Saturday, June 19, for Harold and Vivian Thoma at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Bonnie Thoma.

The honored couple was picked up at their home in a 1942 Ford, (after the groom had already been kidnapped) by three of the original wedding attendants, Mrs. George (Toots) Thoma of Neillsville and Mr. and Mrs. Herman (Anita) Schoenherr of Muskego, (Ace Thoma of Berlin is deceased.) The women were dressed in the original pink and blue colors and the bride wore her daughter’s wedding dress.

The wedding cake and corsages were crocheted by their daughter, Karen Hoppa.

The couple were married June 20, 1942, which was the groom’s birthday, at Immanuel Lutheran Church at Globe by Rev. Adolph Schumann.

There are five grandchildren, Monte and Jon Hoppa, Tammy, Lisa and Dallas Thoma.

Special signatures in the guest book include, Hattie Schoenherr, mother of the bride from Neillsville, and Ronald Reagan from Washington, D.C. (although he wasn’t seen.) Other guests were from Muskego, Hales Corners, Pine River, Berlin, Dubuque, Iowa, Greenwood, Willard, Rock Dam and Neillsville.
