Martens, Mr./Mrs. Erwin R. (Gold – Jun 1975)

On June 22, 1975, Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Martens, Abbotsford, observed their golden wedding anniversary at the Colby Hotel.

A dinner for 21 members of the immediate family was served at noon, and a buffet lunch for 135 was served at 4:30 p.m. Guests played cards and visited during the afternoon.

Mr. Martens was born April 25, 1901 in the Town of Mayville. His wife, the former Vila Patitz, was also born in the Town of Mayville on January 20, 1907. They married at Dorchester on June 23, 1925 by Rev. Keiper. After their marriage the couple farmed in the Towns of Colby and Frankfort. Mr. and Mrs. Martens retired in 1959 and moved to Abbotsford.

The couple has three children, Norman, Edgar; Norbert, Unity, and Mrs. Richard (Winifred) Herrman, Colby.

Among the guests were Mrs. Marten’s mother, Mrs. Ida Patitz (age 85) and an aunt, Mrs. Selma Culbertson (Age 89), Appleton. Other friends and relatives were from Appleton, Park Falls, Merrill, Athens, Edgar, Colby Unity, Owen and Abbotsford.

Mr. and Mrs. Martens are members of Christ Lutheran Church.
