Colby High School music students participated in the state solo and ensemble
festival at Eau Claire on Saturday, May 2, 1975 and received six firsts four
seconds, and two third ratings.
Soloists receiving firsts were Mary Langhus, flute, and Keith Kunkel, tuba.
Duets receiving firsts were Tammy Tyznik and Cindy Knight, French horn, Donna
Brehm and Mary Langhus, flute.
Also receiving a first was the brass choir of Janet Kuesel, Connie Kilty, Jim
Rickard, Dale Meyer, Cindy Knight, Tammy Tyznik, Keith Kunkel, Cathy Heindl,
Dawn Olson and Mike Tennis. Another first was won by the flute choir consisting
of Sarah Koch, Donna Brehm, Mary Langhus, Shelby Boettcher, Melinda Kaiser and
Carried Pfefferkorn.
Those receiving second place awards were Tammy Tyznik, French horn, Donna Brehm,
flute, Shelby Boettcher and Melanie Rickard, flute duet, Mike Tennis and Jim
Rickard, trombone duet.
