Burghardt, Lois Ann (12 November 1932 – 17 November 2022)

Lois Ann Burghardt, age 90, passed away November 17, 2022, at the Pineview Terrace. Lois was born November 12, 1932, in Madison, to Lawrence and Alice (Gangstad) Feggestad. She was united in marriage to Clinton Burghardt on June 29, 1957.

She graduated from Stoughton High School and then went on to get a bachelor’s degree at UW Stout in Home Economics. After receiving her degree, she went on to teach at the Neillsville School District for 6 years, and at the Alma Center Lincoln School District for 1 year. She eventually decided to leave teaching to start her own family. Once her children were older, she began to substitute teach for the Alma Center School District. She also worked for years at the Merrillan Elementary School; where she helped many kids who were struggling with math and reading. The teaching for her did not stop there- she also was the church Sunday school teacher and the Girl Scouts area leader.

When Lois wasn’t teaching, she was excellent at baking, cooking, crocheting, knitting, needle point, and being a seamstress. Some of the other things she loved to do included golfing with her husband and friends, and traveling to Florida and Mississippi with her family and friends. She also loved and cherished the time she was able to socialize with her snow bird friends.

Lois is survived by daughters, Catherine (Jeff) Ruedinger, and Mary (Ed) Burghardt- Novicki; grandchildren, Katrina (Michael) Falk and Vincent (fiancé Katie Martzke) Ruedinger. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Burghardt; and her parents, Lawrence and Alice.

Funeral services for Lois will take place Saturday, January 14, 2023, at the Merrillan United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. Pastor John McHann will officiate. Friends and family are invited to visitation from 10:00 a.m. until start of services.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be given to the family and will be gifted to the Interfaith Network or the Merrillan First Responders.
