Everett Lindgren, Owen, a member of the Clark County Sheriff’s Department – Traffic Division, received a letter of commendation from Eau Claire Chief of Police Donald Johnson for his help in preventing a serious situation.

On February 17, 1975 Rick Meyer, an Eau Claire plice officer, responded to an alert at Wagner’s Bowling Alley, where he reported that a middle aged man was having what may have been a heart attack and was having some difficulty breathing.

While waiting for an ambulance, Lindgren, who identified himself as a member of the Clark County Sheriff’s Department, administered oxygen, which he had in his squad car, and also rendered assistance in comforting the patient.

Chief Johnson stated in a let of commendation that although the response from his units was relatively quick, Lindgren’s action may have prevented a more serious situation. He further commended Lindgren by writing: “You action also points out the importance of cooperation between law enforcement agencies. Even though you were off duty and in another jurisdiction, this humanitarian approach demonstrated, by example, upholds the high tradition of law enforcement officers.”

Lindgren has been with the Clark County Sheriff's Department – Traffic Division since June 19, 1971. He was in Eau Claire attending an in service school when the incident occurred.
