Plautz, Laurie Kay (8 May 1982)

Rev. Michael Mertens officiated at the Saturday mid-afternoon, May 8, wedding rites for Laurie Kay Plautz and Alex Zamarripa. The nuptials were shared at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood. The parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. George Plautz, Rt. 2 Greenwood, and Mr. and Mrs. Arturo Zamarripa, San Antonio, Texas.

Martha James, a friend of the bride from Houston, Texas, was the maid of honor. She was joined by Gigi Plautz, the bride’s sister of Appleton; and Kathy Miller and Kaaren Stokes, both friends from Houston. Bestman was Roy Gallegos, the groom’s cousin of San Antonio. He was joined by Johnny Garcia, another cousin from San Antonio; and Rimas Vebeliunas and Pat Nemec, both friends from Houston.

Ushering were George Plautz, Jr., the bride’s brother of Washington, D.C., and Noel “Bud” Felix, the bride’s brother of Loyal. Jeremy Krempasky, the bride’s nephew of Greenwood, was ringbearer. The flower girls were Becky Felix of Loyal and Mary Kate Krempasky of Greenwood, both nieces of the bride.

Special music was provided during the service by Patrice Pakiz and Gordon Wisniewski.

The bride chose a princess-style, hand-appliqued gown of blush pink chiffon and white silk organza, all accented by a chapel-length train and fingertip-length veil. She carried a bouquet of white roses, lilies, lilies-of-the-valley and baby’s breath. Her attendants wore linen gowns in a rosette color and bolero-style jackets; they carried bouquets of pink roses surrounded by lilies-of-the-valley and baby’s breath. (All of the flowers were silk and were made by the brother of the bride, George Plautz, Jr.) The groom and his attendants were attired in silver-gray tuxedos.

Following the service, a dance was held at the American Legion Hall, Greenwood, with the bride’s uncle, Frank Pakiz, offering music.

The new Mrs. Zamarripa is a 1977 graduate of Greenwood High School and in 1979 from Western Wisconsin Technical Institute-La Crosse where she studied secretarial science. She is employed as an executive secretary for the Jayne Wrightsman Company of Houston. Her husband is a 1978 earner of a bachelor of business administration degree in marketing from Texas A&M. He is a warehouse supervisor for H. E. Butt Grocery Company, San Antonio.

Prenuptial events included a Houston kitchen shower, hosted by Martha James; a San Antonio linen shower, hosted by Mary Zamarripa and Angie Luna; and a miscellaneous shower, hosted in Greenwood by Ev Bergemann, Marilyn Bogdonovich, Harriet Buker and Jo Verschay.
