Geiger, Brian David (5 April 1965 – 18 October 2022)

Brian D. Geiger, 57, of Loyal, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

Brian David Geiger was born on April 5, 1965, in Marshfield, to Leo J. and Dorothy G. (Kroening) Geiger. He was raised and received his education in Loyal, graduating from Loyal High School in 1983. After high school, Brian worked at Grassland Dairy Products in Greenwood for a short time, before going to work for Smith Feeds, in Loyal, driving truck. Brian was united in marriage to Sarah A. Bertz on September 19, 1987, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Loyal. He later returned to Grassland, where he worked in maintenance for many years until retiring due to his health. Brian was a hard-working man who provided for his family, with an unwavering faith that things "will be okay" during tough times.

He had many interests, but especially loved making Sarah laugh, spending time with his grandkids, and surprising them by picking them up at school, or taking them to the Dollar General Store for a junk food run. Brian also loved airplanes, going to airshows and seeing the Blue Angels fly. He loved yardwork, flowers, landscaping, fishing, cooking and pickling with Dylan, the Packers, taking care of the Veterans Memorial at Westside Park in Loyal, and his Yellow Lab, Gus.

Brian was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Loyal, and served as an EMT for the Loyal Ambulance for more than 20 years.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Sarah, of Loyal; his children: Teah (Luke) Morrow of Granton, and Dylan Geiger (fiancé Rachel Mezera) of Minnetonka, MN; his grandchildren: Lennox and Wes Morrow; his father: Leo Geiger of Marshfield; his siblings: Sharon (Randy) Hendrickson of Wild Rose, Lavon Lindner (Roger Ellison) of Loyal, Karen (Edward) Haslow of Independence, OH, Marvin (Karleen) Geiger of Weston, Alan (Carol) Geiger of Huntertown, IN, Vern (Donna) Geiger of Mesa, AZ, and Kevan Geiger of Brule, NE; his mother-in-law: Joan Bertz of Loyal; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Brian was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy, on April 30, 2014; his sister, Carolyn "Cali Sue" Geiger on June 27, 2002; his father-in-law: Robert Bertz on April 14, 2018; and his brother-in-law: Mike "Hunter" Lindner on January 8, 2002.

Funeral services will be held at 12pm on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Loyal. Rev. Emmanuel Famiyeh will officiate, and burial will follow in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Matt Bertz, Danny Bertz, Don Boening, Steve Herrick, Dale Lindner, Nick Seehafer and Christopher Priebe. Visitation will be held at the church, on Saturday, from 9 a.m. until time of service.

Brian's family would like to extend a special thank you to the Bertz and Geiger families for their constant support, and to Kris Gilkerson, NP with Marshfield Clinic Palliative Care for taking such special care him.
