Jorgenson Named October Junior Kiwanian (2022)

The Neillsville Kiwanis Club has named senior Marie Jorgenson their October Junior Kiwanian, having considered not only her academic achievements, such as making the Straight-A Honor Roll, but also her life guarding career and the part-time job she works alongside her extracurricular activities. Marie Jorgenson, Neillsville High School senior student, was named as the October Junior Kiwanian by the Neillsville Kiwanis Club at their Oct. 10 meeting. She was introduced to members by club secretary Herman Seebandt, and planned to participate in the club’s meetings during the month. She is the daughter of Matt and Katie Jorgenson.

Numerous academic, athletic and community volunteer activities highlight Jorgenson’s years in high school. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Club and Spanish Honor Society, has earned Straight-A Honor Roll designation and is a two-year academic letter winner. Additionally, Jorgenson participates in the school’s band and is involved in the Friends of Rachel Club, which provides clothing items to fellow students and promotes acts of kindness around school.

Extracurricular activities include softball, in which Jorgensen is a two-year letter winner and earned second team all-conference last year. Jorgenson has extensive involvement in figure skating, including being a member of the Black River Falls figure skating team and coaching the sport. She was selected as Clark County Fairest of the Fair First Attendant for 2021-22, is a youth member of Clark County Leaders Federation and was the 4-H Lucky Clovers president for two years.

In addition to her involvement in these activities, Jorgenson has been employed part-time at Russell’s of Neillsville and worked as a lifeguard for the Neillsville Recreation Department at the Neillsville pool and during the summer at Vandehey Waters Outdoor Aquatic Center in Marshfield.

Following graduation next spring, she will enroll at the University of Minnesota, with plans to enter dental school.

The Junior Kiwanian program highlights the achievements and diverse interests of outstanding senior students like Marie Jorgenson.

“The club appreciates her strong work ethic and wishes her continued success in her future endeavors,” Brent Shoup of the Kiwanis club stated in a press release.
