Lindloff, Mary E. (1 January 1928 – 24 March 1982)

Mary E. Lindloff, the wife of the pastor at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 24. She was 54.

The deceased was born on January 1, 1928, in Watertown to George and Emma (Withunn) Draeger. She received her education in Watertown schools and then worked at various jobs in that community. On June 26, 1949, she married the Rev. Norman W. Lindloff in Watertown ceremonies.

The Lindloff family lived in various cities in South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin, coming to Neillsville in 1959 where the Rev. Lindloff was associated with St. John’s congregation.

Surviving her, besides her husband, are three sons, James, a minister at Forest Lake, Minnesota; Thomas a minister at Aurora, Nebraska; and Timothy, who is attending a seminary in Mequon. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Fern Hanke, Belle Plaine, Minnesota; and her mother of Belle Plaine. She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Jerald.

Mrs. Lindloff was a member of St. John’s congregation and the church’s Ladies Aid. Offering special music for the service was the congregation, which sang two hymns accompanied by Paul Tess.

Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon, March 27, from St. John’s with the Rev. Marvin Zank of Medford officiating. The Gesche Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Martin Wagner, Richard Quast, Thomas Flynn, Robert Smukal, James Simonson and Herman Hagedorn. Honorary pallbearers were Harvey Pischer, Walter Beyer, Everett Dux, Clarence Schlinkert, Harold Lindekugel, Henry Schutte and Elmer Georgas.

Attending the services from out-of-town were the Rev./Mrs. Paul Hanke, Belle Plaine, Mn.; the Rev./Mrs. Carl Mischke, Mark Voss, Marian Draeger and Daniel and Mr./Mrs. Phillip Mischke, all of Milwaukee; the Rev./Mrs. Lyle Lindloff, Thiensville; Mr/Mrs. Walter Draeger, Watertown; Mr./Mrs. Elroy Lander, Franklin; Mr,/Mrs. Lester Lange, Mercer; the Rev./Mrs. Walter Koepsell and Rev./Mrs. Donald Buch, all of Marshfield; Vicar/Mrs. Mark Birkholz, Mrs. Wilmer Kroll and Rev./Mrs. Burton Stensberg, all of Schofield; and Ref./Mrs. Raymond Schultz and Mr./Mrs. O.C. Evanson, of Wausau.

They were joined by Rev/Mrs. Herbert Prahl, Eau Claire; Vicar David Clark and Rev./Mrs. Norman Paul, of Wisconsin Rapids; Jon Voss, Green Bay; Tom Pankow, Appleton; Philip Gieschen, Adrian, Mi.; David Haag, Lake Mills; Cindy Unke, Manitowoc; Debbie Schultz, Merrill; Dean Biebert, Cedarburg; Mark Krause, Cornell; Norman Berger, Sleepy Eye, Mn.; Thomas Schneider, Scottsdale, Az.; and Dan Balge, Mequon. Also attending were a number of families from Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wilson, Mn.
