Chadwick, James M. (30 May 1928 – 17 March 1982) With Flag

James M. Chadwick, a former farmer and feeder pig marketing employee of Neillsville, passed away at his 1400 Bruley St., Neillsville home on Wednesday, March 17. He was 53.

Chadwick was born on May 30, 1928, in the Town of Weston to Millard and Mathilda Chadwick. He attended Mound School in the Town of Weston, St. Mary’s Parochial and Neillsville High School. He then farmed with his parents until 1952 when he enlisted in the U.S. Ari Force, serving for four years in Korea. During his service stint, he married Carol Reber in Cheyenne, Wyoming, ceremonies on July 16, 1955. He was discharged from the service in 1956.

The couple farmed in the Town of Weston until 1974 when they moved to Neillsville. He then worked for Midwest Feeder Pig for several years. He retired about a year ago due to failing health. He was a member of the Haugen Richmond American Legion Post, Neillsville.

Surviving him, besides his wife, are two sons, James, Jr., of Harleysville, Pa., and Mark of Norfolk, Va.; a daughter Barbara, Long Beach, California; a brother, Robert, Greenwood; and a grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lillian.

Funeral services were held on Saturday morning, March 20, from the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville with the Rev. Joseph Henseler of St. Mary’s Catholic Church officiating. Burial was made in the parish cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Milton Schoenfeld, Francis Urlaub, Robert Gress, Dar Graves, Jim Jordahl and Rene Harder. Special music was provided by LaNiece Schiesel.
