Connie Schmidt and Daniel N. Heindl, both seniors at Colby High School, have recently been notified that they are to be featured in the Eighth Annual Edition of Who’s Who Among American High School Students, 1973-74, the largest student award publication in the nation.

Students from over 30,000 public, private and parochial high schools throughout the country are recognized for their leadership in academics, athletics, activities or community services in the books. Less than three percent of the junior and senior class students nationwide are awarded this recognition.

Connie Schmidt is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Schmidt, Route 2, Colby. She is active in GAA, Masquers, Thespians - Secretary National Honor Society – Treasurer, state solo and ensemble band – secretary and treasurer, and French Club. She has also been class president during her freshman year. Daniel N. Heindl is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Urban Heindl, Abbotsford. He is active in track, cross Country, basketball, Letterman’s Club, pep club and many church activities. He has also won letters in basketball and track, and awards in science and art.

In addition to having their biographies published in the book, they will also compete for one of the ten scholarship awards of $500 to $1,000, funded by the publishers, and will be invited to participate in the firm’s annual “Survey of High Achievers.”

Schmidt plans to attend UW-Marshfield upon graduation in June. Heindl plans to attend college also, but hasn’t decided which one yet.
