Brunker, Nancy (24 Aug 1974)

Bouquets of pink and white carnations graced the altar of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Colby, where Miss Nancy Brunker, Colby, and Paul Hemmer, Stetsonville, exchanged wedding vows on Saturday, August 24, 1974 at 1:30 p.m. Father Rushman officiated at the guitar mass and Beverly Schmidt was soloist.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Brunker, Colby, and her husband the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Hemmer, rural Stetsonville.

For her day the bride wore a gown of nylon organza over taffeta, which she sewed herself. It featured a lace empire bodice, long puffed sleeves with lace cuffs and a lace edged flounce ending in a floor length train. The mantilla veil of nylon illusion was also floor length. She carried a colonial bouquet of colored mums, yellow roses, stephanotis and baby’s breath.

Miss Ellen Brunker served her sister as maid of honor, and bridesmaids were her friends, Miss Joan Kust, Black Creek, Wisconsin, Mrs. Tom Jochimsen, Medford, and Miss Sheila Koplitz, Green Bay.

They were attired in floral satin gowns in shades of yellow, pink and blue, with an off-white background. They carried bouquets of assorted colored mums and baby’s breath.

Lynn Jochinsen served as best man, and groomsmen were Gary Robida, Ron Hemmer and Tom Jochimsen.

A reception for 200 wedding guests at the VFW Club Rooms and a dinner at the Colby Hotel followed the ceremony. A wedding dance was held in the evening at the VFW Club Rooms.

The bride is a graduate of Colby High School and the UW-Stevens Point, and her husband is a graduate of Medford High School, and is presently employed at Bootzin’s Feed Mill, Stetsonville.

The couple will live at 754 East South Street, Medford.
