Niemi (Lindekugel), Janice E. (20 May 1933 – 7 August 2022)

Janice E. Niemi, 89, of Marshfield, formerly of Loyal, joined her eternal family, our Lord, and the angels in heaven, on Sunday, August 7, 2022, with her loving family by her side.

Janice was born on May 20, 1933, in the town of Green Grove, Clark County, to Cecil E. and Evelyn R. (Edblom) Alexander. She attended North Bright and Elmwood grade schools, and graduated from Owen High School in 1951. Janice, along with her mom, dad, sister and her best friend, Jean (Alexander) Klessig, loved to go to dances at Atwood with family and friends. It was there that she met the love of her life, Dale O. Lindekugel. They were united in marriage on April 26, 1952, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Unity. They purchased their first family farm northeast of Loyal, and there they welcomed their two beautiful children, Julie Jean on April 21, 1953, who married Charles Loos, and Jeffrey Dale on August 1,1954, who married Maureen Mack. Together as a family they farmed, Dale worked over the road construction and Janice as Loyal High School secretary. They all knew the true meaning of dedication and commitment. Janice also found the time to attend their children’s sporting and other school events. It brought her great joy to watch Jeff on the court or Julie cheering from the sidelines and mats. In 1972, they sold their family farm and built their loving home in the city of Loyal. Janice continued to work as secretary at Loyal High School for 33 years until retiring in 1996. She enjoyed her job so much and would often say it did not feel like a job to her. She met and worked with many great people who she remained in contact with after retiring.

In 1995, Dale was diagnosed with cancer and didn’t beat the odds. Janice was not looking for another person to share her life with, but God had other plans. Allan Niemi stole her heart again and they were united in marriage on October 19, 1996. They spent 20 wonderful years together, going to the cabin up in Hayward, going south in the winter in their motorhome, visiting all the local casinos, and spending time with family and great friends playing cards and games. Allan was also diagnosed with cancer and passed away in 2016.

Janice was blessed with seven loving grandchildren: Tara (Loos) Christopher Scheel , Trisha (Loos) Jeffery Palmer, Jared (Kim) Loos and Travis Lindekugel (Karey Truhler), Jason Lindekugel (fiancé Jenny Weber), Guy Lindekugel and Lacie (Lindekugel) Robert Pohl. She adored and spent every minute she could with them. Janice was a very sassy and classy grandma! She was also a very loving, giving and dedicated Grandma. Her ‘spit on the Kleenex baths’, singing rock a bye to us in the blue chair in the corner, or decorating Christmas cut-outs, will always be some fond memories.

Janice was also blessed with 12 amazing great grandchildren: Tyne, Cesyn, and Tryn Scheel, Devyn and Kenidi Palmer, Hunter and Corbin Loos, Shawna (Lilenthal) Zach Young, Hanna Lindekugel, Christopher, NoraLee, and Madilyn Pohl. Even though she was a great grandma, she never skipped a beat attending events for any of them. Family was EVERYTHNG to Grandma Jan!

To make her family more complete she was blessed with four great-great grandchildren: Elliot, Beckham, Emery, and Caroline Young. Those little smiles put a big smile on her face!

Janice is also survived by four stepchildren: Gordon Niemi, Dale (Mary) Niemi, Roger (Ellen) Niemi and Marlene (Scott) Skattebo; seven step grandchildren: Amber (Dave) Lischka, Hillary (Blair Bullick) Niemi, David Skattebo, Valerie Niemi, Isabel Niemi, Bryce Niemi and Kelsey Niemi; and one step great-grandchild: Adalyn Lischka.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, her husbands, and her daughter, Julie Loos, on July 21, 2021.

Per Janice's request, no services will be held. A private family burial will take place in Loyal Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.
