Sommer, Gail Virginia (27 Jul 1974)

Bright colored bouquet of mixed flowers decorated the altar of Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Madison as Gail Virginia Sommer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon G. Sommer, Rt. 1, Curtiss, and Stephen Joseph Suchomel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Suchomel, Sun Prairie, repeated their wedding vows. Pastor William J. Rohlwing officiated at the 2 p.m. ceremony, Saturday, July 27, 1974.

For her wedding the bride chose a satin organza gown of the Renaissance period. The empire bodice of Alencon lace featured scallops and button trim and a high collar. The Edwardian sleeves were lace and silk. The deep lace hemline of the demi-bell skirt extended into a chapel train. A Camelot crown of lace held the veil of fingertip illusion, which was edged with a border of matching lace.

Attending the bride as maid of honor was her sister, Miss Shirley Sommer, Madison, and her bridesmaid, also a sister, was Sharon Sommer, Madison. Miss Peggy Sommer and Miss Nancy Sommer, both of Curtiss, were Junior bridesmaids. Heather Bresnahan, Wausau, was flower girl.

The attendants wore rainbow colored gowns of nylon sheer fashioned with ruffled yokes and short ruffled sleeves. Matching satin ribbon trimmed the waistline. The full skirts had deep flounces of ruffles. Matching hats completed their ensemble. Each carried a French bouquet of daisies and baby’s breath.

Dave Suchomel, Sun Prairie, was the best man, and Herb Nellen, Mosinee, groomsman. Gary Sommer, Curtiss and Richard Murrow performed ushering duties.

Organist Doris Marquardt and Joe Wickham, guitarist, provided the wedding music.

A dinner and reception for 350 guests followed the wedding, and a dance was held in the evening at the Waunakee Legion Hall.

After a wedding trip to Denver, the couple will make their home at Rt. 1, Dane, Wisconsin.

The bridegroom received a BBA degree at the UW-Madison in 1970, and is an administrative assistant at the Wisconsin Physicians Service.

Out of state guests were from Colorado, Michigan, Minnesota, and Illinois.
