Loyal Historical Society Celebrates Schoolhouse Completion (18 July 2022)

The Loyal Area Historical Society celebrated the completion of its one-room schoolhouse replica at 501 E. Elm Drive with a ribbon cutting July 18. “Our dream is now a reality. Many people donated their time, materials and labor to make it possible,” said Donna Langfeldt of the historical society. She extended appreciation especially to Cindy Benz and Benz sawmill; Joe Aumann; Dave Clouse, whose father Bernard Clouse was an original student at the Mack School; Maureen Mack; the historical society board Greg and Brody Miller; Chris Smith and the Amish community for taking a day to help build it. Tami Cook of the Loyal Chamber of Commerce said the schoolhouse was a “wonderful tribute” to Dorothy Voit and Joan Knack, two of the museum founders. The schoolhouse provides a place to showcase all of the old school materials and photos of past Loyal High School graduates that the historical society collected over the years. Museum tours are available by appointment. Call Langfeldt at 715-255-8127.
