George Hanson, a native of Stevens Point, has been appointed the new administrator at the Colonial House of Colby.

Hanson’s education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in economics and business administration from the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point.

A veteran of the United States Army, Hanson previously served as assistant administrator at River Pine Community Health Center, Stevens Point. Both River Pines and the Colonial House are owned and operated by Mid-American Nursing Homes, Inc., Marshfield.

While at River Pines, Hanson completed a correspondence course in nursing home administration from George Washington University, Washington, D.C. He has passed the mandatory state board examination for nursing home administrators, and is licensed by the State of Wisconsin Department of Regulations and Licensing.

“I am proud to be affiliated with Mid-American Nursing Home System,” says Hanson. “I believe our policy of coupling a highly professional staff with a deep concern for individual patient care is key to providing an ideal nursing home atmosphere.”

Hanson and his wife, Joan, reside in Abbotsford, and are members of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Colby. Mrs. Hanson will teach fifth and sixth grades at St. Mary’s School this fall. They have a daughter, Erin, 13 months old.

Hanson’s relatives in this area include a grandfather, the late George Hoppen, and great-grandfather, Peter Hoppen, also decease.

Former Colonial House administrator, Dennis Bakken, has accepted a new position as special administrative assistant to Harold Howard, General Manager of Mid-American Nursing Home, Inc.
