Rasmussen, Donna Mae (24 January 1939 – 2 July 2022)

Donna Mae Rasmussen, age 83, of Nekoosa, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Aspirus Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids.

Donna was born in Mason City, Iowa on January 24, 1939, to Engvold and Olga (Clausen) Brue. She graduated from Loyal High School in 1957. She married Theodore “Allen” Rasmussen on May 10, 1958. They lived in Wisconsin Rapids until moving to the river near Nekoosa in 1996.

Donna was beautiful, funny, strong, super smart, generous, and fierce. She loved animals. The family had every pet imaginable: cats, dogs, gerbils, guinea pig, parakeets, squirrels, raccoons, pigeons, crows, chickens, a hawk, snakes, ducks, and geese. She ruled the house and kept everyone in line along with the neighborhood kids. She told it the way it was. You knew where you stood, and she knew what she wanted. Donna was involved in everything: PTA, Boy Scouts, master gardening, home builders, decorating wedding cakes, TOPS, and the credit unions. She was very active at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and had a giant career in real estate. She excelled at everything she did.

Donna is survived by her loving companion, Joe Hagen; two sons, Kevin Rasmussen of Nekoosa and Dean (Jodi) Rasmussen of Wisconsin Rapids; daughter Michelle (Eric) Hofstad of Vesper; daughter-in-law Carlin Rasmussen; six grandchildren: Tara (Kyle) Pleet of Wisconsin Rapids, Amber (Mike) Sanders of Stratford, Austin Rasmussen of Wisconsin Rapids, Derek Rasmussen of Green Bay, Dylan (Morgan) Rasmussen of Wisconsin Rapids, and Clayton (Jen) Rasmussen of Fond du Lac; four great-grandchildren: Jasmine and Kaden Pleet and Wyatt and Owen Rasmussen; and sisters-in-law Mary Ellen Brue and Laura Brue.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Theodore “Allen” Rasmussen; two sons, Gregory and Trent Rasmussen; sister, Carol Potter; and brothers, Dexter and Don Brue.

Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Dr. Carlton Andersen will officiate. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. on Friday, July 8 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services on Saturday at the church.

Herman-Taylor Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family.
