Hoffman, Laura Ann (8 August 1967 – 9 June 2022)

Laura Ann Hoffman, 54, of Marshfield, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, June 9, 2022, with her husband and loving family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer.

Laura was born on August 8, 1967, in Neillsville, to Patrick and Carol Ann (Slawatyniec) Rueth and resided on a rural farm in Loyal. She grew up in a large family and was the seventh of nine children. She graduated from Loyal High School in 1986.

She loved her large family as she always had a playmate by her side. Laura was the fluttering butterfly of the family and enjoyed her siblings along with all the neighborhood friends. She spent her days exploring the farmland, biking, cleaning, gardening and doing chores as needed. She was always there for her family and friends and greeted everyone with a smile.

Laura worked various jobs during her life which included babysitting as a teenager, a waitress at Severt’s Restaurant and a cashier at Baltus Bread and Butter Shop. She settled into a job where she loved the people and worked as a custodian for over 20 years with Roehl Transport in Marshfield.

Laura married Richard Paul Hoffman, the love of her life, on December 13, 1990. Although unable to have children of their own, Laura was like a mother to all of her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed spending time with them, including movies, spoiling them with gifts, taking them to their favorite restaurants (which included biscuits and gravy, or the very special ice cream treats but never liver and onions). Laura had a big heart and was generous giving gifts and making people smile. She was always thinking of others and never of herself.

Laura was a phone call away when needed and would listen intently to anyone in need never criticizing and shared her words of wisdom. Her fondest memories would be the ones she enjoyed with her family and friends. She truly enjoyed morning breakfast with Eric and Amy and the many adventures they shared together. Laura loved the family gatherings even though with so many siblings, nieces and nephews sometimes could be a bit chaotic. She also loved the weekends she spent with her sisters, where they would take road trips, hike, kayak, explore waterfalls, parks, escape room and best of all the annual haunted house adventures! She was always willing to try a new adventure with her sisters.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Paul Hoffman; brothers Jody Rueth, Jack Rueth and Nick (Elaine) Rueth of Loyal, and Timothy Rueth of Denmark; sisters, Linda Rueth and Lisa Noll of Marshfield, Jannell (Paul) Carlson of Medford, and Jennifer Shaw of North Carolina; also survived by many nephews and nieces.

Preceding her death was their infant daughter, Caitlin Ann Hoffman; Mother and Father, Patrick and Carol Rueth.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Laura's honor.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 16th at Cornerstone Community Church in Marshfield, Wisconsin, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church. Online condolences may be made at www.hansenschillingfuneralhome.com  for your convenience.
