Margraf, Kathleen Suzanne (7 February 1926 – 5 June 2022)

Kathleen Suzanne (Blake) Margraf of Stratford/Madison/Deerfield, so dearly loved by her family, peacefully left this world with her family by her side and woke up as an angel in Heaven on Sunday, June 5, 2022.

She was born on February 7, 1926, in Madison, the daughter of Henry Robert Blake and Mary Irene (O'Connor) Blake Pirkl. Kathleen married John Margraf on June 15, 1946, in Green Bay. In Madison, she worked at FW Means Company for several years. She then spent several years working at Central Wisconsin Center, bringing joy to many residents. After retirement, Kathleen moved to Colby, to be near her children. While living in Colby she volunteered at Colby Elementary School. In total she was a foster grandma for over 28 years and was known to all the children as Grandma Kathy. Kathleen enjoyed many adventures with her daughter Mary and granddaughter Jenny. She was a member of the Cottage Grove VFW Post and the Moose Lodge #291.

She is survived by daughter Mary Peterson and her grandchildren; Jenny and Eric Totzke (Kailey, Liberty, Brinley, special member; Promyse) and Chad and Kerri Peterson (Hannah and Carter), brother, Richard (Marian) Pirkl, daughter-in-law Shirley Margraf and family; grandchildren Michael (Laura) Lund, Laura (William) Wenniger, Deejay Lund, Jason (Emily) Lund and Kristina Margraf, sisters-in-law, Sarah Pirkl and Mary Ann Blake, and many great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Plus many extended family members and good friends.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John, son, Joseph, step-father Gus Pirkl, brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert (Mildred) Blake, John (Roxanne) Blake, James Blake, Daniel Pirkl, sisters and brothers-in law, Mary (Gilbert) Grieger, and Jean (Maurice) Olsen, son-in-law, Wayne Peterson and many other extended family members.

Kathleen was an amazing, loving, Godly woman, who showed her family and friends love and kindness and laughter. Her strength and faith were the cornerstones of her life. Kathy was a friend to many and loved by all. She is rejoicing in Heaven now, with her loved ones. She will be missed forever, but the legacy she leaves will never be forgotten.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. at Saint Bernard’s Catholic Church in Abbotsford. Father Timothy Oudenhoven will officiate. Family and friends are welcome from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday. Burial will take place on Thursday, June 9th at 1:30 p.m. at Highland Memory Gardens in Cottage Grove. A gathering will follow at the VFW on Cottage Grove Road in Madison.

Kathy’s family would like to give special thanks to St. Croix Hospice and Vita Care Assisted Living for their wonderful care.
