Witte, Lila (29 Sep 1914 – 9 Feb 1974)

Funeral services were held at the United Church of Christ at Colby Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. for Mrs. Lila Witte, 59, Colby. Rev. Kenneth Dix officiated at the service, and interment was made in Colby Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Witte died Saturday, February 9, 1974 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where she had been a patient since January 25.

The former Lila Hanne was born in the town of Hull September 29, 1914. She attended local schools and her marriage to John Witte took place December 29, 1933 at the United Church of Christ in Colby. The couple lived and farmed in the town of Hull. Mrs. Witte had been employed at the Colonial House of Colby for the past several years.

She was a member of the United Church of Christ and the VFW Auxiliary at Colby.

She is survived by her husband; three sons, Dean, Jon and Neil Witte, all of Colby; eight grandchildren, her parents, Charles and Emma Hanne, Colby; four brothers, Harold and Vernon Hanne, Colby, Eldred Hanne, Abbotsford, and Elroy Hanne, Greenwood, and a sister, Mrs. Woodrow (Audrey) Schmutzler Sr., Riplinger.
