Thirteen local area students participated in commencement ceremonies on Thursday, May 18, 1978 at Eau Claire District One Technical Institute. They were among 700 students graduating. There were 244 Associate Degree graduates and 450 Vocational Diploma recipients.

From Withee, Timothy M. Hansen graduated from the Automotive Mechanics program, and Jean Pawlukiewicz graduated from the Medical Record Technician program with a grade point average of 3.50 or above.

Five graduates were from Owen or the area, Lawrence F. Rowe graduated from the Auto Body program, achieving an excellent academic record by accumulating a grade point average of 3.50 or above, out of a possible 4.0. Robert A. Anderson received a degree in Electronics Serving Program, Gary S. Graham in Wood Techniques, Tracy L. Johnson in Automotive Mechanics, and Nancy J. Laabs in Account Clerk program.

Six are students from the Greenwood area received diplomas, Gary L. Branstiter in Diesel Mechanics, James K. Kohlnhofer in Diesel Equipment Servicing, Jerry L. Olson in Diesel Mechanics, Randall J. Seliskar in Auto Body, and two students achieved academic excellence by accumulating a grade point average of 3.50 or above, Blaine R. Liebzeit in Wood Techniques and Judy M. Sizer in Barbering.
